About

Technology should solve problems and empower people.

I studied music composition and guitar at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, South Carolina. I graduated in 2013 with a Bachelor’s of Music Performance. It was my electronic music courses that got me hooked on technology. We were using Cubase and Max MSP, and I was told I didn’t need to bother learning CSound. So I went and tried to learn CSound. That was my first real introduction to programming. I did the Stanford iTunes U iOS course, codecademy, etc., and generally just read and worked through any resource I could find.

I used to work for an independent drink bottling company in North Carolina as an app developer. I focused mostly on developing and supporting web apps. I think it's pretty awesome that I get paid to write code. Now I work for a fruit company.

My approach to writing an app is to start with a problem and find a way it can be solved or eased by technology. I believe that technology should be used to empower people. That’s probably why I gravitate towards building apps that have a focus on creating or utility.
